Plain language, and only things that are actually true of this app.
NeuroMinder is local-first. By default, everything you type — tasks, moods, notes, contexts, wins — is stored in your own browser's local storage on the device you are using. There is no account, no server copy and no analytics in that mode. We do not receive, collect or access that data.
We deliberately do not call NeuroMinder "private" in an absolute sense, because no web app can promise that. The host that serves the page may keep standard web server logs; optional features you turn on yourself — using your own AI key, or connecting Claude via MCP — send data to third parties; and your browser, device and operating system are outside our control. Read on for exactly what happens in each mode.
"Private" sounds like a guarantee, and we do not want to mislead anyone. In default local mode we do not see your data, but we cannot control or promise everything: the host serving the app may log IP addresses and request times; your browser vendor, extensions, and operating system may access local storage; malware or a shared device could read it; and backing up, syncing or exporting your data is your responsibility.
Optional AI and MCP features intentionally move data outside the browser so they can do their job. We only turn them on when you explicitly add a key or sign in. The safest way to think about NeuroMinder is: local-first and open-source, not magically invisible.
Your data is written to localStorage in this browser. It is tied to this browser and this device. Clearing your browser data deletes it. We cannot recover it, because we never had it.
NeuroMinder does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels or third-party cookies in local mode.
If you add an Anthropic or OpenAI API key in Settings, that key is stored only in your browser's local storage. It is never sent to us or to any NeuroMinder server.
When you use an AI feature (chat, task breakdown, email planning, brain dump), your browser sends the relevant content — the text you provide, plus the task, context and recent chat information needed for the request — directly to your chosen provider's API using your key. That request and its handling are governed by your provider's own privacy policy and terms (Anthropic or OpenAI), and are billed to your account with them.
Your API key is never included in the optional cloud sync described below.
If you choose to connect Claude through MCP, Claude needs to reach your data over the internet, so this mode requires two things you opt into explicitly: signing in, and syncing a copy of your data to hosted storage.
Sign-in: authentication is handled by Supabase, including Google sign-in if you use it. That means Supabase (and Google, if chosen) processes your email address and an account identifier, and stores a session token in your browser. This session token is a necessary cookie/storage item — without it you cannot stay signed in.
What syncs: a single private JSON snapshot of your tasks, Future Vault items, contexts and context notes, active context, XP and progress, wins, check-ins, meetings, badges, quests, morning briefing state and pace samples. It is stored against your user ID with row-level security, so only your signed-in account can read or write it.
What never syncs: your API keys, your chat history with Slothie, and your reminder settings. Those stay local.
What Claude can do: once connected, Claude can read your tasks and contexts and can add, complete or snooze tasks, add Future Vault items, update a context and log a win — through the connected tools, on your authenticated account only. What Claude does with the content it receives is covered by Anthropic's policies.
NeuroMinder is open source. You can run it on Lovable, which provides the hosted deployment and server runtime needed for Claude / MCP mode, or you can self-host a static copy (for example on Netlify or GitHub Pages) for local and AI-key mode only. Whoever hosts a given copy — including Lovable or your own server — may have standard web server logs such as IP address and request time; those are the host's logs, not NeuroMinder features.
This app was built entirely using Lovable AI. The source is open, and the same code can be run on Lovable or deployed independently.
Local data: use "Reset everything" in Settings, or clear your browser storage for this site.
Synced data: in Settings you can delete the cloud copy at any time, and you can sign out. Deleting the cloud copy removes the stored snapshot for your account.
You can also export your data to a file from Settings at any time, in either mode.
NeuroMinder is not directed at children under 13, and no account is needed to use it in local mode.
If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page in the open-source repository's history. For questions, contact Suman Saurav on LinkedIn.
This document describes how the software behaves. It is not legal advice. If you deploy your own copy, you are the data controller for that deployment.
